"A few weeks ago we attended Passion:Atlanta. This was the first time I heard the song God of This City, title song on Passions new release. One thing I have always enjoyed is hearing the story behind a song. This song has an amazing story. The band Bluetree from Belfast wrote the song. They were on a mission trip in Thailand in a city that is the number 1 sex tourism destination in the world. It is a very dark place. There are 30,000 female prostitutes over the age of 18 this does not include male prostitutes or females under 18. The band met the owner of a bar, really it was a brothel who invited them to play in his establishment. They were told they could play as long as people were buying drinks. So the group with Bluetree went along and bought sodas for several hours. While the band was preforming this song came to them."
This is simply amazing to me! As Christians, as Jesus' disciples we are called to reach the most uttermost parts of the earth (Acts 1:8)....that means everywhere. Many times, we are afraid to talk to "certain" people and tell them about Christ. But think about Jesus, he loved everyone unconditionally and told everyone of his love for them. I mean, who are we to judge anyone anyways. We ALL have a past....if it wasn't for God's amazing grace, then I would still be caught in my old ways....God accepted me as a poor, wretched sinner, who am I not to accept others as well.
God has called us to be a light in this world, but not of this world. There's a difference. We are to shine our light and make a difference in this world, telling others of Christ and God's amazing grace, but not to take part in it. For example, the story behind this song....well the band played in a bar, but they shared Christ with all the pople there...they did not drink and party, but they lived a life that exemplified Christ. I just think this is amazing and should be an encouragement to everyone that truly has a relationship with God! :)
Here's one video of the song....

However, my favorite is this one because of my passion for Africa :)

God of This City
By Bluetree
Performed by Chris Tomlin
Verse 1
You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are
You’re the light in this darkness
You’re the hope to the hopeless
You’re the peace to the restless
You are
Bridge
For there is no-one like our God
There is no-one like our God
Chorus 1
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done here
Verse 2
You’re the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You’re the King above all Kings
You are
You’re the strength in our weakness
You’re the love to the broken
You’re the joy in the sadness
You are
Bridge
For there is no-one like our God
There is no-one like our God
Chorus 2
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things have still to be done here
God is THE God of this city, of this nation...and if we, as Christians, come together and believe that with ALL our hearts and live it out....then there can be a revival on our campuses and in this world! The power of God is Absolutely Amazing!!, Let's not underestimate His Power! Being a Believer, the same Power that raised Jesus from the dead is the Power living inside of you, the Holy Spirit, and God can do amazing things in and through you....it's all about having FAITH! :)
I encourage you, as well as myself, to be bold! Remember that the worse thing that can happen is someone turning their back on you or making fun of you, but think about what all Christ endured....we definitely can take some making fun of.....John 15:18-27
